Who is responsible?

“It shall be the duty of every employer and self employed person to comply with the provisions of the Regulations in sar far as they relate to matters which are within his control.

It shall be the duty of every employee while at work:

(a) to co-operate with his employer so far as is necessary to enable and duty placed on that employer by the provision of the Regulations to be complied with: and
(b) to comply with the provision of these regulations in so far as they relate to matters which are within his control.”

PAT testing is a process in the UK by which all electrical appliances are routinely checked for safety.

If you own a business or a landlord who lets residential accommodation such as houses, flats, bedsits, holiday homes, caravans etc as a business, then it is required by law to ensure all the equipment you supply as part of the tenancy is safe.

If the property you are letting comes with a cooker, washing machine, dish washer, TV etc, then you need to make sure they are up to safety standards, regardless whether they are new or second hand.

Once every electrical item has been tested a certificate will be issued and also a sticker/label placed on each individual item to confirm when it passed and date was tested.

Electricus Group  electricians are all fully trained PAT testing electricians who can help you put your mind at rest by carrying out these test and placing a label on the electrical items to show when they were last inspected.
